JIM MCLEAN SIGNATURE COURSE OPENS AT THE DORAL RESORT

THE NEW JIM MCLEAN SIGNATURE COURSE IS NOW OPEN AT THE FAMED DORAL GOLF
RESORT LOCATED IN THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF MIAMI.....

Long time golf instructor Jim McLean, and the Director of the Jim McLean Golf School at the
Doral Resort, has put his stamp on the former Silver Course at Doral.

Doral Golf Resort and Spa is also the home of the famed Blue Monster golf course and a
current PGA Tour stop. The Blue Monster has just recently joined the (TPC) tournament players
club network. Doral has five golf courses.

McLean more known for his teaching than his golf architect skills, was beeming with pride
at the courses grand opening which was held on November 13th. While admitting he was
thankful to have his name on the course, McLean was quick to spread around the credit to
others who helped him with the course renovations.

"About 30 minutes after the resort was generous enough to let me have this project, I knew I was
in trouble," Mclean said. "The first thing I did was pick up the phone and call a good friend Tom
Fazio. I told Tom that I needed a good shaper. Tom got me one of the best in Bobby Schwartzburger.
Along with Bobby, Tom's son Logan Fazio came down every week to help me."

McLean also made it clear that he wanted the "course to compete with the Blue Monster." That he
has done, with the addition of quicker greens and the adding of of over 600 yards to the course.
The old Silver Course tee's sat at about 6,600, while the new tips measure just over 7,100 yards
with a par of 70.

While there isn't much rough on the course, there is plenty of water. In fact water on all 18 holes
will challenge the golfer, and force players to make sure they start the round with enough golf balls.

Starting the round is no picnic either. McLean calls holes 1-2-3 the toughest three starting holes in
golf. While that might be a bit of a stretch, golfers are tested right out of the blocks. In fact the test
is one that might not allow pace of play to get off to a good start. But hey it's Florida and enjoy the
great weather, that Doral's Genral Manager Mark Jeffery says is an everyday occurence.

The first three holes are all par 4's that can play, 470, 490 and 490 again. Need more, well how
about on the first hole the fact is that there is water left and right. Holes two and three have water
left, but no water right. That's because there is an adjacent road that is OB. The 4th hole brings
the first par 3 into play. It's a 176 yard water carry with bunkers left and right. The 5th hole is
the first of two par 5's on the course (there is room for another). The back tee's give the golfer
a 160 yard water carry for your tee shot.

By the middle of the back nine, the second toughest part of the round kicks in full force. Starting
at the par 4 13th hole, one begins the three hole stretch called "The Bermuda Triangle". Holes
13-14-15 do actually form a triangle around some, yes water. With the par 3 14th hole being the
courses signature hole, a 186 yard (from the tips) island green special. GOOD LUCK! especially
late in the day if the sun is setting or if the wind is blowing.

In spite of the amount of water the McLean course has, the bump and run shot is very playable.
In fact it's possible to play that shot into about 14 holes on the course.

The Jim McLean signature golf course is just one of the latest changes to the famed Doral Golf
Resort and Spa, with is run by Marriott. The resorts white course, was renovated in 2005 by the
"Shark" Greg Norman (now called the Great White Course). The famed Blue Monster course
was redone in 2006. With the Red Course up next in 2010. The Gold course hasn't been forgotten
either, with changes being done earlier this year.

A new restaurant will open soon. The Spa is under going renovations, as a spa industry leader
Pritikin prepares to move in. The resort has also inked a new deal with Nickelodeon, so the kids
can enjoy visits to the pool, with Sponge Bob and Dora the Explorer. Don't forget the Blue Monster
is always lurking aound too. One can be purchased for the kids, or put on your golf bag in head cover
form.
