JEMSEK DISAPOINTED BY USGA BUT WONT QUIT TRYING FOR US OPEN
FRANK JEMSEK OWNER OF COG HILL GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
FRANK JEMSEK THE OWNER OF COG HILL GOT A CALL FROM THE USGA THIS WEEK,
IT JUST WASN'T THE ONE HE WAS LOOKING FOR.
Jemsek wanted to be the first to congratulate Erin Hills on receiving the U.S. Open for
2017, but admitted to being disappointed.
"Disappointed Yes," Jemsek told the Gog Blog when reached by phone Wednesday afternoon.
"But I congratulate Erin Hills and I am glad the open will be in the midwest, that is great news
for all the golf fans in the area."
Jemsek said Cog Hill will use the time to continue it's preparations for the BMW Championship,
and continue to be a better golf course going forward for all of it's customers.
"We can still make our gallery area's better and do somethings with parking and traffic flow,"
Jemsek said before adding. "We are not giving up, the USGA told us they are still looking at
us for the future and that's great to know."
With the awarding of the 2019 US Open to Pebble Beach, the only open which is still TBD is
2018. Jemsek will gladly take it if offered.

If the USGA needs Cog Hill to do a test run event, Jemsek says that's not a problem if the BMW
is not in town.
Jemsek also said he would be interested in hosting a Women's Open or Senior Open if the
USGA came to him pitching that idea. "Any US Open is not a bad event to have."
The only question is now who will offer a Chicago area course a major in 2018 first. The USGA
and a US Open at Cog Hil or the PGA and a PGA Championship at Medinah.
Memo to golf's governing bodies. Step up and grab one of the biggest the markets while you still
can, first up to offer wins.
In the meantime the midwest finally has a US Open. That's good news for golf fans everywhere
around here, too bad it's still seven years away.
