MEDINAH PICKS DOAK TO RENOVATE COURSE 1
MEDINAH HAS PICKED ARCHITECT TOM DOAK TO RENOVATE COURSE ONE
In a letter that went out to it's membership this week, Medinah Country Club announced
it had selected architect Tom Doak to oversee it's upcoming renovation of it's course #1.
Medinah has 54 holes, and it's courses are numbered 1-2-3. Course # 1 is the Mens
course, with course # 2 being the ladies course. Course # 3 is the championship
course that will host the upcoming 2012 Ryder Cup.
The club had spoke with multiple architects on the project, but the vote came down
to either Doak or Rees Jones. Jones is doing the renovations to the championship
course which are mostly complete, but might still see some minor tinkering prior to
the Ryder Cup.
Doak is currently involved course projects both overseas and in Florida. Doaks
current Florida project is called Streamsong near Orlando. Doak is also renovating,
"The Country Club of Detroit" in Michigan.
One of Doak's most recent projects is Old MacDonald Links which is part of the
Bandon Dunes complex in Oregon, has been named "Best New Course of 2010"
by mulitple golf publications.
