FIRST OFF KUDOS TO ALL INVOLVED ..in yesterdays take down of villain
number one in society. The situation was so tense at the Whitehouse that
the President went golfing yesterday.

GOLFING..yes he did. But his round turned into only nine holes, instead
of 18 because of the developments of the day. He probably went to
Congressional, hey why not. It's this summers U.S. Open site, I wish
I could duck in on Sunday there for a round too. Considering how things
went yesterday, I would hope nobody dumps on him for heading out
and getting a few holes in. I say good for him, who knows maybe OBL's
face was painted on the side of the golf balls he was hitting.

SPEAKING OF GOLF BALLS..The #1 Ball in Golf, Titleist has been put up
for sale by parent company Fortune Brands of Lincolnshire. The latest
rumor is that Callaway might be making a bid for Titleist.

Hey why not, if you can't beat'em buy them. In one way I would love to see
some of greats in the business, like Callaway club designer Roger
Cleveland work with a Bob Vokey on a new set of wedges. It could a
real state of the art project.

Callaway could use a Scotty Cameron in the fold, to give that brand a
real style of putters. But what if, guys like Cameron and Vokey bail out.
Oooops..not good. Callaway could use a real golf shoe company like
Footjoy to produce good footwear, like Taylor-Made has in Addidas.

But when you think about it, have you had enough of all the cross promotion
deals going on..I have.

When the NBC Sports golf guys are wearing Golf Channel hats and or
stuff with the VS of versus on the side. That's a problem.

The broadcast booth doesn't need to look like a side of a NASCAR
at a golf tournament, even though the argument is that some players
on tour already do. Hats, visors, shirts, golfbag..etc.

but I am not NBC's Roger Maltbie today, I am The Golf Channels
Roger Maltbie according to the shirt and hat I have on.

the NHL on Versus tonight, the Stanley Cup Playoffs are in full swing.
Speaking of swings Johnny, does Tigers swing still look as awful as
it did at Doral.

Roger it sure does, and after todays round NBC's Brandel Chamble
in our Golf Channel studios will break it down for you. Ah Johnny I
thought we worked for NBC, a No Dan, You do and I don't. At least this
week anyway.

Can you imagine these player promo's. Hi I'm Phil Mickelson, I play
the new Callaway Driver FT-1400 series, with my new Callaway
PRO-V1C ball...PRO-V1C Phil. Yeah the "X" has been replaced by
the "C" for Callaway.

Phil take us through the Driver again. Yeah it's a combo of our
Callaway 500 series and an old Titleist 900 series Driver set. I
now hit it longer than anyone on tour, even these kids.

CROSS PROMOTIONS...aaaaahhhhh.....NO. JUST STOP...NOW.

Will someone, and not another golf company please buy Titleist,
if it remains for sale. NIKE..hands off. Even buying Titleist wont
save Woods game in it's current state.
