Connor Black added his name along side of golf greats like Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler,
and Hunter Mahan  to the Milt Woodard Trophy, with a final round 74 (+3) to beat
Hunter Kraus by two strokes in the 94 Western Golf Association Junior Championship
at Beverly Country Club in Chicago.

Black age 15 is the top rated high school player for the class of 2013, his efforts at
Beverly were followed by four NCAA Division one coaches from the state of Texas,
and and others from southern and southeastern schools.

According to his dad Harvey Black, Connor has made visits to some schools but
hasn't decided on a college yet. Harvey Black added, he needs to see what schools
are good for him academic wise and then he can make a decision.

Connor Black confirmed that in an interview with the Gog Blog saying," I have made
some visits just get more information about about each school, that's the stage I'm
at right now just gathering information." Connor also confirmed while he enjoyed a
year at a local high school, but will return to home schooling to continue his education.

Black started the final round with a four shot lead, his lead stayed at four shots after
a birdie on the par 3, 10th hole. Then Black ran into trouble on the par 5 11th hole,
hitting his second shot into a bunker and three putting for a double bogey.

Then Black had to save par from a greenside bunker on the par 3, 12th hole before
a birdie on 13 got him back on track for the moment. But after his drive landed in a
divot on 14, his seconf shot traveled just over 30 yards. His approach landed past
the hole, usually not a good spot to be on a Donald Ross designed golf course.
Black settled for bogey after two-putting.

Nicolo Galletti of Clayton CA. playing with Black made a long birdie on 14 two
pull back within three shots. But a double bogey on 16 took Galletti out of
contention for good.

With Blacks group on the course, Hunter Kraus of Germantown TN., came in and
posted a final round one under par (70) and held the lead in the clubhouse. Nick
McLaughlin of New Castle NH., was one shot behind Kraus and took third place
after also posting a one under par (70).

Beverly's last four closing holes are among the toughest on the course. but Black
made par on 15,16, and 18 to seal the win. Black made bogey from a greenside
bunker on the par 3, 17th.

The top three finishers are given exemptions in to the Western-Amateur, which
will be played August 2-6 at Northshore Cc in Glenview. Connor and Harvey
Black are hoping to return, and have Connor play in the WGA-AM. Kraus said
that if he was exempted into the 2011 Western-Amateur (which WGA officials
later told him he was) he would skip his state championship, and play the
Western-Amateur instead.

Black gave thanks at the awards ceremony to the staff and members of Beverly
for a great week, saying it was the first time he had played on fairways that were
like carpets. But while he is eligible to play in the event at least three more years,
did not confirm he would. Black said the WGA Junior Championship was such
a fun event last year at Blue Mound CC WI., that even missing the cut he still
wanted to return this year.

Birdies on holes 7,8 and 9 during round three, when he regained the lead for
good. Were the key stretch of holes in the championship for him.

Doug Ghim of Arlington Hts. was the low finisher from Illinois, seven shots
behind Black. Kyle Kochevar of Glen Ellyn finished strong with a 2 over par
round (73). Finishing T-48, Kochevar heads off to another tournament at Sun
River GC in Oregon next week.

"The weather didn't cooperate much this week, " Kochevar said. "(Today) was
the best weather we had, but I love older classic courses like this. The WGA
does a good job and this is a great experience, I'm looking forward to playing
in this tournament again next year."

The 2012 WGA Junior Championship will be held in Florida, at the Florida
Country Club in the Village of Golf.
