live action as Steve Stricker will try to win the the JDC three straight times..2009-2010- ????

A solid field of 156 players, with 155 of them trying to take down Steve Stricker will
start tournament play on Thursday July 7, the final putt should drop around 5 PM
Sunday afternoon July 10th. Coverage can also be seen on the Golf Channel
and CBS on the weekend.

Some of the other big names in the field at the TPC Deere Run Course include:


 2010 Open Champ Louis Oosthuizen, Ryder Cup Capt. Davis Love III,    U of I Golf Coach Mike Small

But the list doesn't stop there. 2009 British Open Champion Stewart Cink, other
British Open Champions, David Duval, Todd Hamilton and John Daly. PGA
Championship winners include Love III, David Toms, Rich Beem, Shaun
Micheel. Masters Champions include John Deere Classic Board member
Zack Johnson, Mike Weir.

JOHN DEERE CLASSIC..Past Champions include, Stricker, Jonathan Bryd,
Kenny Perry, Mark Hensby, John Senden, J.P. Hayes, and Toms.

MR 59..Paul Goydos returns, in an attempt to do it again, and win the JDC
this year.

HE'S BEEN CLOSE...Jason Day whose debut at the JDC in 2006 on a
sponsors exemption, saw him make the cut.  Day enters this years JDC
coming in off of second place finishes at the Masters and US Open.

TEN AND COUNTING...are the amount of PGA Tour winners from this
year in the field. Several players who have won in the last two years are
playing this week. The field also includes several past members of the
Ryder and Presidents Cup Teams.

SPECIAL EXEMPTIONS INCLUDE.. Illini Golfer and 2010 NCAA Champion
Scott Langley, Morgan Hoffman now on tour after a career at NCAA
powerhouse Oklahoma State. Kevin Tway another Oklahoma State
player who just turned pro, will have his dad former PGA Champion
Bob Tway on the bag.

BIRDIES FOR CHARITY..will hold it's "Drive the Middle" contest at Noon
today, on the 10th hole at TPC Deere Run. 50 Players are competing to
win a spot in the JDC Wednesday Pro-Am, worth about $3,750, according
to Director Kristy Ketcham Jackson. Players hit their drive down the
fairway and try to be as close to a white line as possible, drives must
go 150 yards to be eligible.

PAY CUT FOR LEFTY AND ERNIE...well maybe. Callaway Golf has announced that CEO
George Fellows has resigned after holding that position for the last six years. Anthony
Thornley steps into the role as Interim President and CEO. Second quarter results were
almost 40 million below Wall Street expectations, sales were $270 million a loss of
$55 million.

Industry analysts say that Callaway is continuing to fall further behind Titleist and Taylor
Made. Callaway will reduce it's staffing at all levels, trying to cut expenses 50 million per
year.
