PEARSON CHARGES TO SECOND IWO WIN, YOO FADES
THE PAR 5 8TH HOLE AT MISTWOOD WHERE FINAL ROUND LEADER KRIS YOO
MADE A NINE, THAT SET THE STAGE FOR JENNA PEARSON TO WIN HER SECOND
ILLINOIS WOMENS OPEN.
Jenna Pearson of Wheaton started her final round in a T-5 position,
thinking just post a good score and who knows what might happen.
At the 15th hole she found out what could happen, she was leading
and that came as a surprise. On 17 the next score board showed that
Ember Schuldt had posted a final round 69 and was in the clubhouse
at +1.
Pearson was at +1 and knew what she had to do., so she did. A birdie
birdie finish with two great approach shots was all it took for a couple
of birdies to drop from three feet and less. The she waited, and waited
and finally the suspense was over, title number two and the first place
check for $5,000 was hers.

The second round leaders (A) Kris Yoo of Schaumburg and LPGA
veteran Allison Finney of Wilmette had started the final round tied
for the lead. It didn't stay that way long.
First hole Finney bogey, Yoo birdie. Two shot swing and off went
Yoo until the 8th hole. After her drive ended up under a tree, she
went on to make a nine, and the lead was gone never to return.
Schuldt of Sterling knew she had to finish strong and did paring
in the last four holes to hold a share of the lead. Then Pearson
came in with two birdie to take the title away.
The purse was the largest ever at $17,000, and the Phil Kosin IWO
thanks all the sponsors who made that happen. The IWO also
thanks Mistwood GC the host of the tournament for another
great year. For more information on Mistwood GC, please
