DR. MICHAEL HURDZAN AND DANA FRY TALK ERIN HILLS

ERIN HILLS NOW PREPARES FOR IT'S NEXT CHALLENGE THE 2017 US OPEN

The 111th US Amateur is in the books and Kelly Kraft has walked away
with the Havemeyer Trophy.

Which means that Erin Hills can now sit back and look at how that
championship played out, and start to prepare for the 2017 US Open
Championship.

Erin Hills needed to make some changes to the course between the
2008 USGA Womens Publinks, and the recent US Amateur. The course
went through two renovations under different ownerships, but what stayed
the same was the golf architects who designed Erin Hills.

DR. MICHAEL HURDZAN ALONG WITH DANA FRY DESIGNED ERIN HILLS

Dr. Michael Hurdzan along with partner Dana Fry were Erin Hills original
architects, they are one of the things that hasn't changed over the years
at Wisconsin's newest golf destination located Northwest of Milwaukee.

For all that is good about Erin Hills these days, the property has not quit
evolving and will be different before June of 2017 arrives. Mike Davis the
Executive Director of USGA spent many hours during US Amateur week
taking notes about what was working, and what wasn't during championship
week.

Davis admits that there will be changes to the course before the open comes,
but the changes won't be to the extent of what has happened over the last
three to four years.

HURDZAN AND FRY WILL BE BACK IN THE USGA SPOTLIGHT IN 2017 WHEN
THE US OPEN COMES TO ERIN HILLS.

Hurzdan who now runs the companies stateside operation and Fry who
is based in Hong Kong to oversee operations in the Far East, will work
through any changes the course makes before 2017. From comments
made by Davis, the biggest change to Erin Hills by 2017 could be the
third green.

By the time 2017 arrives it will be interesting what has changed at Erin
Hills, besides the additions of new guest cabins the club says will most
likely start getting built within weeks.

Hurzdan and Fry were hired in 2002, the Master Plan began in 2003 and
then construction started in 2005, the golf course opened in late 2006.
By 2009 renovations has started, a second phase more extensive then
the original was started in 2010 by the new owner Andy Ziegler.

That renovation which saw Erin Hills change the grasses and fescue
is a four year process. The fine fescue grasses have also led to Erin
Hills to now be a walking only course, golf carts are thing of the past
on the course at Erin Hills. What's interesting is the future the course
has with golfers, and what championships it will continue to receive
from the USGA.

During the US Amateur Hurdzand and Fry spoke about the golf course
they had put nine years of hard work into, and the project that will give
them more to do before the US Open. With an evolving course like Erin
Hills, the work that Hurdzan and Fry do might not be done for a long time.
