DUSTIN JOHNSON WINS BMW WRIGLEY SHOOTOUT, BEATS GOG BLOG GUY BY 5 FEET
Dustin Johnson fires the winning shot on the par 3, 139 yard 1st hole at
Wrigley Field, Johnsons shot landed 25'6 inches from the stick, just
edging out the Gog Blog Guy and MR. Cub Ernie Banks, on deck (L).
It's a neat concept to play one of the great unkown golf courses in the
midwest, Wrigley Field located at Clark and Addison. Not sure there
are enough holes (actually 1) to make Golfweeks Classic Greatest 100
course list, but who cares. Wrigley makes a great range, not sure I can
say the same about the cell. There are now vines to hit over in Centerfield.
But the "sodfather" Roger Bossard would make one heck of a greens
keeper, then again he already is. Maybe at some point in the future
the first hole will go up on the southside.
The 1st hole at Wrigley Field is an elevated tee-box in the Rightfield
bleachers, where one hits off some green carpet and next to a spot
marked by electrical tape. The hole is 139 yards, and when the wind
is about 12 MPH in your face it's a tough shot. The hole is the leftfield
corner.
The actual Wrigley Field PA announcer is blasting your name when
you step up to tee it through out the park. It's not just like when the
starter says the Smith group on the tee.

BMW Championship week is underway and the pro's are arriving at
Cog Hill., which is always good to see. Now what will be the course
reaction is the question. Luke Donald on Twitter last week during a
practice round at Cog Hill, "the pro's are going to love the condition".
Let's hope they do. No complaints today, but the week is early. One
thing still under watchful eye for the week, is the weather. Monday was
nice and sunny, and while rain is not expected to be an issue this week.
Cooler temps are, mabye only high's in the upper 50's for Round 1 on
Thursday.
Defending Champion Dustin Johnson said this morning that he loves
the golf course. But admitted he never played the old "Dubsdread" before
Rees Jones did the much discussed renovations, so he has nothing to
compare the current golf course to the old one. More comments from
Johnson in the audio interview below.
Looking ahead this week. Practice rounds on Tuesday, Pro-Am on
Wednesday. Rounds 1-4 Thurs.-Fri.-Sat.-Sun. On Saturday play will
conclude by 2:30 so NBC can go to college football. So plan on being
out early Saturday.
More coverage everyday here at golfersongolf.com., see you on Tuesday.
