AREA TO HOST THE 2013 BMW CHAMPIONSHIP. (OPTION ? ABOVE)

WELCOME TO THE OCTOBER GOG NEWS BLOG...I hate to say October
already because that means our golf season is winding down. But there will
be plenty of good days to play so take advantage. Especially this week.

Courses are offering plenty of great fall rates and so are the resorts around
the midwest area, call them visit websites and facebook pages. Deals are
out there grab them while you can.

NORTHBROOK BASED KEMPERLESNIK SPORTS.. has been selected
by the PGA of America, to be the public relations firm for the 73rd Senior
PGA Championship May 22-27 of 2012, at the Harbor Shores GC in Benton
Harbor Michigan. The course is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design.

The Championship presented by KitchenAid is already seeing a high demand

THE WINDY CITY Girls Collegiate Golf Championship is underway at The Glen
View Club, final round play begins TUES. OCT 4 at 7:30 AM, the field includes
several strong girls collegiate golf programs including the NU Wildcats. Who
are tied for 4th place after the first day and 36 holes. There are 15 teams in
the field, Oklahoma State is in first place.

WILSON GOLF IS PROUD AGAIN THIS OCTOBER TO SUPPORT BREAST
CANCER AWARENESS MONTH..the company which has donated over two
million to the cause since 1988. Will donate at least $100,000 again this year.
Wilson Golf will also donate 1 % of it's sales from it's womens Hope Golf Line
of products. " We are proud to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation,"
says Tim Clarke GM of Wilson Golf.

STONEWALL ORCHARD GOLF CLUB..in Grayslake an Arthur Hills Designed
golf course, is adding a small addition to it's par 5 8th hole. A new tee box,
located on the fairway side of the hole, across the wetlands from the the back
tee boxes and straight behind the 7th green. Stonewall Orchard will host the

THE FINAL MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE 2011 GOLF SEASON, is now
underway at Eagle Ridge Resort/Spa in Galena. The Players Championship,
is a fun fall event for the Illinois PGA Section Professionals. When concluded
the Illinois PGA and Senior PGA players of the year will be known. Ivanhoe CC
professional Jim Sobb, is a strong candidate for both awards. Sobb has already
won the IPGA Match Play and Senior Match Play Championships. Sobb was
also the winner in the recent Illinois Senior Open at McHenry CC.

THE FIGHTING ILLINI..are having success on the football field and golf course too,
as the mens golf team won the DA. Weibring Intercollegiate this past weekend in
Normal Illinois. Senior Luke Guthrie won the individual event at 10 under par, while
in the team competition Illinois defended it's title by defeating second place Akron
by 23 shots.

"It was a great team effort, " said coach Mike Small. "Anytime you win by a margin
like that you have to be happy." Small was also happy with the play Guthrie who
was the highest rated player in the event. "Luke held up his end of the bargain and
took care of business," said Small. The event was held at the DA Weibring Golf
Club a par 71 6,915 yard course. 15 schools took part in the event hosted by ISU.

"It was a very positive week and good to build momentum as a team," Guthrie
said."I was proud of the way i grinded out a pretty good score and held off
(teammate Thoma Pieters) who was coming after me. We hope we can keep
this going next week."

The Illini wrap up the fall season by competing this weekend at the Jack Nicklaus
Invitational in Columbus Ohio, hosted by Ohio State.
