REVELATIONGOLF HONORS PAST USGA PRESIDENT JUDY BELL
ELK GROVE BASED REVELATIONGOLF RECENTLY HONORED
FORMER USGA PRESIDENT JUDY. AS THE 2011 HUMANITARIAN
OF THE YEAR. (Bell on right holding award, with Revelation Board of
Directors).
A special night was held recently at the Wellington Restaurant in
Arlington Heights, when Elk Grove based RevelationGolf honored
former USGA President Judy Bell.
Bell was given Revelations "Humanitarian of the year Award" for
2011. It was Bell who helped Revelation Golf founders Donna Strum,
and Kathy Williams launch Revelation Golf with a USGA grant while
she held the office of president.
RevelationGolf uses the game of golf as a therapeutic and life skills
development tool. There are several programs that Revelation Golf
offers.
There is a Veterans Golf Program, Children's and Adult Program,
At-Risk Youth Program, and a Breast Cancer Survivor Program.
All of the programs help people become active in society again,
and programs are held at golf courses in the summer months.
During the winter months they move indoors to golfdomes.
"We felt there was such a likeness between what Judy's initatives
and what we were trying to do, " said Strum. "The visions that
both of us had, has allowed us to do many things together."
Strum has a Masters Degree in Public Administration-Health
and is a clinical certified therapeutic specialist. Williams is a
former LPGA Tour player, and a "Class A" LPGA Teaching
Professional since 1996. Williams was the first WGA Evans
Scholar from the state of Minnesota.
Receiving the humanitarian award was something special in
Bell's eyes.
I'm deeply touched by this," said Bell. "RevelationGolf is a group
that really makes it happen, and I have seen the effect they have
had on people by using the game of golf. It's a tremendous honor
to be honored by a group that gives so much back."
