IT'S BEEN A LONG YEAR..but I have finally reached the 18TH hole,
and it's a par 5. Time to try and get home in two shots for an easy
birdie to end the season.
What started as a bad winter and then a crummy spring, turned into
a hot summer and courses struggling with the heat. The best golf
weather all year seemed to be, the last week of September and
then early October.
Here's hoping that better weather prevails in 2012, so that golf
season is longer and more enjoyable. Regardless of the weather,
the Gog Blog will be here all year to keep everyone up to par on
the local and midwest golf scene. Some national news as well.
The Gog Blog will return later this week, but is looking at taking
the week between Christmas and New Years off. Time to hit a
few balls at Mike Munro's White Pines Golf Dome in Bensenville.
Hey the Eskimo Open at Cog Hill is coming up Sunday Jan. 8th,
and the 2012 Chicago area golf season will be underway. You
should go play, the Bears wont be playing that Sunday.
ON JANUARY 2ND, the first Gog News Blog of 2012 will run. At
that time a "major announcement" about golf coverage in Chicago
will be made. Stay logged in right here at Golfersongolf.com.
Shortly thereafter, The Gog Blogs look at 12 great reasons to
be excited about golf in the Chicago area will be posted. Ideas
for winter golf destinations are coming too. The Gog Blog has
just hooked up with some old friends, who are part of the
Buffalo Communications golf PR group. They will be passing
along some new travel destinations all year long.
Starting with places like Farm Links a year round resort down
in Alabama. A look at the new Pinehurst # 2 is coming also,
beat the rush to get there before the 2014 US Opens do. The
new par 3 course will open this year at Bandon Dunes on the
coast of Oregon.

THE GOG BLOG's COVERAGE of the 2012 Ryder Cup
September 28-30 at Medinah, will begin before long in
2012.
EARLY IN 2012..stay with us for the announcement of who
will design the new Oak Meadows GC in Addison. Which
when finished, will be one of the Chicago area's best public
courses. The field or architects is currently being trimmed
down to the final four or five.

ILLINOIS PATRIOT EDUCATION FUND DAY at Medinah CC, which
is being moved up to May from July because of Ryder Cup preparations
at the club. It's one outing you don't want to miss.
In closing to all golfers. Help give this industry a shot in the arm for
2012. Still need a Christmas gift for a fellow golfer, pick them up some
new golf balls or something else they can use. Gift certificates from
golf stores or pro shops are a great idea.
TO THE LOCAL GOLF ORGANIZATIONS...The WGA, may you find
a nice local club to host the 2013 BMW Championship. To the Illinois
PGA, a season of great championships that local players enjoy. The
same goes for the Chicago District Golf Association, and the Illinois
Junior Golf Association. May they continue to grow the ranks of
players for years to come.
